Sata García exposes in the UMU "Of those powders ...", a complaint against oblivion (09/05/2017)

The exhibition hall of the Chapel, in the Rectorate building of the University of Murcia, hosts from today until June 23 the exhibition "From those powders come these sludges", an installation made specifically for this room by the artist Sata García.

It is a sample full of symbolism that requires the action of the spectator to reach its full allegorical load.

It will be their footsteps, in short, those that disseminate and scatter throughout the room the dust that reproduces a complicated drawing on the floor slabs of the Chapel, until it disappears, like that historical memory that remains hidden and forgotten by the Spaniards.

This is, according to Sata García, an artistic installation made with ground cement stolen from a Francoist monument: the slabs - which are on the cross of the fallen by the Francoist group in Paracuellos del Jarama.

This dust has been placed as a fine carpet on the floor of the art room, denouncing "the Francoist symbology that still exists in society and prevents us from seeing things as from where it comes, why there are still monuments of this type Subsidized, why those of one side yes and another not ... ".

The intention is that this fine powder, which has the form of delicate arabesques, will definitely blur when people pass over it.

"I like to think that dust that is going to get impregnated in the soles of people's shoes when you step on this installation, is a metaphor of what is happening today: it is between us, we drag it, but we do not make it the smallest case".

"All the work concludes on the Historical Memory."

The title, coming from one of Goya's Caprichos concerning the Inquisition, "refers to everything we have not been able to solve from our past in Spain, we drag it, and that mud in which we are immersed in our country , Such as corruption, lack of separation of powers, etc., comes from that.
