The Circus Theater hosts the absolute premiere of 'The bicycles are for the summer' (28/02/2017)

Murcia hosts the absolute premiere of 'Bicycles are for the summer', from La Ruta Teatro in co-production with the Teatro Circo and Teatro Romea, and directed by César Oliva.

For three consecutive days, from 2 to 4 March, the Teatro Circo will host this adaptation of the work of Fernando Fernán Gómez, which is considered one of the most representative texts of contemporary Spanish theater, and the best and most celebrated of its author.

It has been 35 years since its premiere and this new production run by La Ruta Teatro celebrates the 40th anniversary of the inauguration of the Cultural Center of the Villa of Madrid, now Teatro Fernán Gómez, where it will be performed from 9 March to 30 April .

The cast has a wide representation of Murcia interpreters, as well as practically all technical equipment: stage design, lighting, sound and stage direction.

Thus, 'Bicycles are for the summer' is carried out by Llum Barrera, Patxi Freytez, Esperanza Elipe, Alvaro Fontalba, Teresa Ases, Agustín Otón, Adrián Labrador, María Beresaluce, Ana Caso and Lola Escribano.

The work contains a wise combination of costumbristas elements with tragic and realistic elements, forming a chronicle of the Spanish civil war from the perspective of a middle-class family in the Madrid of 1936. It begins days before the uprising of 18 of July, and Ends shortly after April 1, 1939. At first, Luis asks his father for a bicycle.

But that summer of '36 will pass, and two more, unable to satisfy the desire of a boy who becomes a man in three years.

That family, its neighbors, and the daily particulars, offer a distant, but sure look, of all that lived the Spain of that time.

One of the basic elements of this modern scenic proposal is radio.

The radio is present at all times, since perhaps it was the first war in Europe in which it was reported with this medium.

Fernán Gómez uses it in his original work, but this version emphasizes it as an element that is both distant and informer.

Union Radio, evolved years later to Radio Madrid, was the main means of information during the civil war, and thus it appears in the scene.

All the passes will take place at 21 hours and the ticket price is 18, 15 and 12 euros.
