The bike path that will link Ronda Sur and Juan Carlos I will be ready next summer (26/02/2017)

In the coming weeks, work will begin on the creation of a bike lane that will run along Avenida Miguel Induráin, Avenida Reino de Murcia and Avenida de Los Dolores, joining Juan Carlos I Avenue and Ronda Sur Avenue.

This new vial destined for cyclists will have a total length of almost 7 kilometers and will be ready next summer.

The unidirectional bike lane will be segregated from both road and pedestrian traffic, which represents a great improvement in comfort and above all safety for cyclists, it will have an effective width to circulate of 2.55 meters and will have separators that protect the cyclist from Road traffic of the adjacent traffic lane.

To give greater visibility, red photoluminescent rubber bollards (every 16 m) will also be installed, which will be a visual barrier for motor vehicles.

At the time of carrying out the works, it will be demanded that they be executed by sections to avoid the affection to the traffic in these avenues.

The company CHM Works and Infrastructures will carry out the works in a period of four months and with an investment of 474.219 euros.

This new section is part of the project of the Network of Bike Trails of 20 kilometers completely segregated and connected to each other and is added to the 2.5 kilometers of the bike path of the motorcycle of the river Segura as it passes through the urban center of the city of Murcia.
