The Artillery Garden hosts the first free bike workshop on Sunday 2017 (24/02/2017)

The first free workshop for all the public, will allow the residents of Murcia, this Sunday in the Artillery Garden, to become expert users of the bicycle.

A total of 10 workshops, implemented by the City of Murcia, through the Department of Urbanism, Environment and Huerta, directed by Antonio Navarro Corchón, aims to help citizens in the knowledge of bicycle management, maintenance , Repair, decoration, and in learning to move around the city.

The courses consist of practices in the parks and gardens of Murcia, which are safe spaces outside of traffic, so that the participants can live the experience with peace and enjoyment with it.

The initiative counts on the delivery of 9 training workshops ranging from "Learn to ride on Bike I and II" to "From route to the city" and in which participants will progressively learn to ride a bike, acquire mastery of the basic skills : To go out, to pedal, to turn and to brake, to practice by circuits of abilities, to learn to check the bicycle and to do a basic maintenance, to repair the bicycle to fix punctures, brakes and adjust changes, to personalize the bike and to circulate by the city.

At the end of the workshops will be given a card where are reflected the workshops surpassed by the users, as well as a diploma that accredits the knowledge acquired.

It is also possible for those who do not have a bicycle, but want to participate, request a municipal bicycle on 968200293, giving two days' notice.

The program of workshops is as follows:

1. Learn to ride on Bike I and II will be taught in the artillery garden on Sunday, February 26 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Progressive learning to gain confidence.

Acquire mastery of basic skills: getting out, pedaling, spinning and braking.

2. Skills circuit (initiation) will take place in the park Fofó on Sunday March 26 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Practice simple skills such as pedaling with a raised hand, learn to look back without losing balance etc.

3. Skills circuit (advanced / expert) also at Fofó Park on Sunday, April 30 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Overcoming obstacles, emergency braking, braking on the ground, traffic in narrow places

4. Learn to check the bike in the Abenarabi park on Sunday, May 28 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The user will learn to diagnose the condition of his bike as well as do basic maintenance, correction of posture and acquisition of safety habits.

5. Learn to repair the bike also in the park Abenarabi on Sunday, June 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

To practice basic bicycle repairs such as fixing punctures, brakes and adjusting changes.

6. Mima, decorate and personalize your bike will take place in the university garden on Sunday, September 24, 11am.

At 2:00 p.m.

Theory and practice on customizing the bike, stickers, spray paints and accessories.

7. I learn to circulate around the city I will be taught in the garden outside the health center of Vistalegre on Sunday, October 29 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Theory about signaling, conduct, planning of route, elements of security and practice in closed circuit.

8. I learn to circulate through City II in the same garden of the Vistalegre health center on Sunday, November 26 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Review of theory and practice of necessary skills and exit route by bike path and safe roadway individually, in pairs or in groups depending on the level.

9. Route by the city, party of delivery of card and diploma in the park Abenarabi on December 17 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Group tour to practice all the learned and final ceremony of delivery of cycling card and commemorative diploma to the participants.
