Let's change and Now Murcia denounce that the PP blocks the control of the big municipal contracts (16/02/2017)

We change and Now Murcia denounce that the PP avoids transparency by blocking the commission that the councilors of Now Murcia, Luis Bermejo, and Cambiemos Murcia, Sergio Ramos, have denounced today the "blockade" of the PP to instruments that promote municipal transparency as Is the case of the commission created to monitor compliance with the City Council's large contracts, which has not been convened for eleven months.

The councilors have explained that the companies controlled by the aforementioned commission, including Cespa, La Generala-Terra Natura, Home Help, Electromur, STV Gestión, and Tribugest Gestión de tributos, the Concessionaire of the Tramway And Electromur, receive more than 100 million euros a year from the municipal coffers.

The commission had a work plan that began in February 2016 and whose completion, according to the accounts of the Government team itself, was scheduled for May of that year.

However, the last meeting took place on March 18 and only allowed time to analyze the fulfillment of the contract of Home Help.

Precisely thanks to the work of the municipal groups on this company, which accumulates successive defaults on workers and to date has not paid the monthly payments of November, December and January, nor the last two extraordinary payments, the City Council imposed a fine for Infringe the agreements included in the tendering specifications.

The meetings were stopped when we were analyzing Tribugest, the second company, and now, after almost a year and after both Cambiemos Murcia and Now Murcia have requested on more than one occasion the call of the commission, the person in charge of doing so , Eduardo Martínez-Oliva, Councilor for Finance and Contracting, "does nothing."

Bermejo and Ramos have insisted on the importance of the PP "not showing the least interest" in activating a commission that has served to monitor a group of companies that takes around 25 percent of the budget.

"Maybe they thought it was going to be a vase organism and when they realized they did not back down," they have commented.

Likewise, they have criticized that the PP "try to fly the flag of transparency when the facts show that nothing further from reality."

The mayors of Cambiemos and Now Murcia have commented that if the committee members are not called "within a reasonable time" to continue with the work, they will request an extraordinary plenary session in order to continue analyzing the City Council's major contracts.
