UMU Titular develops a web platform to adopt protective animals from around the world (15/02/2017)

Álvaro de Francisco and computer engineer Álvaro Serrano have created a free mobile application that facilitates the adoption of protective pet animals from around the world.

Alarmed by the numbers of abandoned dogs and cats in Spain, these two young entrepreneurs decided six months ago to link, through technology, the saturated protective with those who seek to adopt or temporarily host an animal.

The idea materialized in Miwuki (http://bit.ly/2hdM7iX), a free application for Android (http://bit.ly/2kNv5cs) that serves as both a showcase of homeless animals and a digital manager for the protectors.

"Protectors can upload the files of their hosts with photographs, age and data on their behavior, check the dates of vaccination, deworming and the time they remain in the center. , On paper, "explains Álvaro de Francisco.

Since the launch of the web and app platform, in English and Spanish, 90,000 animals have been registered in 4,800 protectors from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Argentina and Spain.

Once the first phase of collecting the data of the animals has been completed, from this month the individuals who want to adopt or welcome can search by provinces, respond to an affinity test or answer questions about their tastes, habits, size of the house etc. ., So that the system recommends the most appropriate animals for its profile.

In this sense, the creators of Wiwuki are clear that "20% of adopted pets are returned for lack of affinity with the family, so we believe that it is essential to give many details about their behavior."

Interested users can download the app for free on Google Play: http://bit.ly/2kNv5cs

Francisco and Serrano are looking for funding to publicize the application, make an iPhone compatible version and develop new features.
