The City of Murcia begins the work for the preparation of the Municipal Plan of attention to Children and Adolescents that includes the strategic lines that respond to the new challenges and needs of the children and adolescent population of the municipality.
The Council of Social Rights, led by Conchita Ruiz Caballero, this morning held the municipal technical committee for children and adolescents, which aims to serve as an instrument for technical coordination in these matters, favoring collaboration and participation between the various municipal services of the City of Murcia.
In this way, an integral and transversal policy is developed in favor of Children and Adolescents that guarantees their rights and equal opportunities in the municipality of Murcia.
The commission will allow the development of programs and projects aimed at the welfare of children in the municipality and prevent situations of exclusion, offering resources that meet their needs and develop their potential in the community.
In addition, it will carry out the monitoring and evaluation of the implementation and development of the municipal Plan;
It will collaborate in the sensitization on the rights of the infancy among the population in general;
And promote awareness and monitoring of the situation and quality of life of the child population.
The City of Murcia is already adhered to the Child Friendly Cities Program led by UNICEF and the recognition for the period 2016-2020 of Murcia as a city of children, affects the need to advance internal coordination of all municipal areas.
Table of Participation of Children and Adolescents
The City Council of Murcia created in May of last year the Participation Table to give voice to the children of the municipality, which allows the Murcia minors to express their interests and needs, analyzing their situation, being able to make various proposals in this matter.
The participation table, an initiative of the Department of Social Rights, directed by Conchita Ruiz Caballero, has as purpose, as explained by Ruiz Caballero, "institutionalize the participation of minors in municipal life, contributing to the expression and direct knowledge of Their concerns, also analyzing the situation of children. "
The functions of the Bureau are, among others: to act as channel of communication between the children of the municipality and the local corporation;
Provide them with access to the information of the public affairs of their interest;
Receive and listen to their demands and complaints;
Promote plans related to them;
And to promote the children's associative movement.
