The 4/40 program to promote physical activity expands its groups in the districts of Patiño, Zarandona and La Raya. The activity now has a total of 550 hours of specialized monitors. (13/02/2017)

The Governing Board has approved the increase in the number of hours, in a total of 50, of the program for the promotion of physical activity 4/40, in the districts of Patiño, Zarandona and La Raya to respond to the demand for new Groups.

So far the contract had 500 hours of monitors specialists in physical activity, and the new modification will allow more time to accompany more groups one day a week, namely 550 hours.

Specifically the 4/40 program consists of the creation of groups of citizens supervised by a monitor to perform physical exercise (walking 4 days / 40 minutes) in their closest environment (neighborhood or hamlet).

There are currently 20 active groups, more than 600 people, of which 14 groups go for walks accompanied, one day a week, by a monitor specialized in physical activity and sport (Graduates and / or Graduates in Physical Activity Sciences and the sport).

The remaining 6 groups go out on a daily walk accompanied by volunteers from the groups themselves who have been trained in training courses.

On February 2, the 4th Training Course of Volunteer Monitors of Groups 4-40 was closed with the motto 'The next step you give yourself'.

In this last edition have participated 20 people from the groups who have very positively valued the knowledge and tools provided to continue motivating their colleagues in the daily practice of physical activity, in promoting self-care as personal capacity to promote health and On the benefits of group walking.

After 10 years of the implementation of the program to promote physical activity, Groups 4-40 are a community resource, which contributes to the promotion of healthy living habits of the population of the municipality of Murcia.
