The Parks and Gardens Service, which is part of the Department of Modernization, Urban Quality and Participation led by José Guillén, is working on the review of the nearly 700 unique trees in the municipality of Murcia.

Specifically, reviews are made several times a year supervised by a professional specialized in these specimens.

The arborist technician makes a thorough inspection of each of these specimens to see their general condition, evolution, their trunk, if they have any branches in bad condition and, in the case that some action is necessary, what measures have to be adopted .

These reviews are being developed casuarinas of the Plaza del Romea or in the walk Alfonso X the Wise.

One of the specimens that, due to its monumentality and importance, receives more care from professional arbolists and specialists is the ficus of Santo Domingo in which a constant inspection guarantees its size, elegance and security.

Likewise, detailed reviews of these specimens are carried out in districts such as, for example, the plantains of the Avenida de la Constitución in Monteagudo, the eucalyptus in the Palmar or the almez in Puebla de Soto, among others.

The City Council has seven specialists, including a technician, an arborist, a specialized height pruner, a specialized officer and three gardeners, whose mission is to keep these specimens in good condition.

The Councilor for Modernization, José Guillén, underlines the importance of carrying out a control of our "most special trees in the municipality, exemplars since, in addition to their great environmental value, they are a reflection of the living history and the passing of the Years of this municipality ".

The singular trees are those arboreal or arborescent specimens with characteristics that make them stand out over others of their species, such as their rarity, their considerable size and advanced age or their historical and cultural significance.
