Language immersion in plenary (09/02/2017)

About one thousand Murcian students participate in the theatrical visits organized by the City Council in English, French and German to discover the city by practicing languages.

The mayor receives a group of 30 students from IES José Planes de Espirando, who have made the itinerary the 'Romantic and Modern Murcia' in French

The Plenary Hall this morning was the stage in which the theatrical visit was developed in French, which was attended by a group of 30 students of the IES José Planes de Espirando, within the itinerary 'Murcia Romantica y Moderna' Through which the young people have visited the city center and the main modernist buildings, until finishing in the Town Hall, where they have been received by Councilwoman Rebeca Pérez and Mayor José Ballesta, who explained to them in English the history of the Council of Murcia.

About 1,000 Murcian students from 18 centers are going to participate in these visits to all Murcia institutes in English, French and German, since this initiative was launched in the last quarter of 2015 and will be extended to The first quarter of this year.

Previously, only students of the Language Club could participate, but given the success of the initiative, which allows students to discover the city and practice languages, the City decided to open it to all institutes in the municipality.

The plenary hall has been incorporated today as a new stage of the modernist visit in which several actors have participated.

In addition, the Department of Youth and Development Cooperation offers Secondary and Secondary students a second itinerary called 'Those happy 20's', where actors teach the Casino de Murcia with period costumes.

"The language most demanded by the centers is English, although there are also many who choose French and German, there are even institutes that have made the visit in all three languages," said José Ballesta. Next course will be offered new visits, given the positive evaluation carried out by teachers and especially the students themselves.

It is the centers themselves that receive the calendar of visits so that they can select the ones that are of interest to them, with information of each one of the offered routes, through the service of European Programs of the Department of Youth.

The initiative is designed so that the young people gain language fluency, doing activities that they would do in any other European city, as a complement and support to the formation that they impart, offering a cultural experience and of linguistic immersion.
