Tramway Murcia increased the number of travelers in 2016 by 4.41% over the previous year (08/02/2017)

The Councilor for Development, Roque Ortiz, and the management team of the Concessionary Society have accompanied this morning the Director General of Industry of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Esther Marin, on a visit to the facilities of Tramway Murcia.

The increase in tram passengers in Murcia in 2016 was 4.41% compared to the previous year, a ratio well above the average growth in the public transport sector.

During the visit, the regional responsible for Industry and the municipal responsible for Development have checked the functionality of the facilities starting the visit in the maintenance area.

Thus they have been able to examine the route of service where the servicing operations are carried out daily, which consist of the visual inspection of pantographs and trams' lows, as well as liquid and sand level;

The washing route;

The four maintenance routes with the winch lathe, the two central maintenance pits and the "lift" track with the battery hydraulic jacks capable of lifting a full trolley and dismantling the bogies.

They have also checked the dimensions of the beach of tracks with capacity for the storage of the 11 current trams of the fleet.

They then proceeded to visit the Central Control Station, where the operations director informed them in detail of all the systems coordinated from that position: control cameras installed on the 18 km tramway platform;

SAE (system of aid to the exploitation) from where the times of all the units are coordinated to give a service characterized by the regularity and punctuality;

Ticketing system;

System of public address and communication with the user in stops;

Power remote control and track control devices.

They have also been particularly impressed by the professionalism and work carried out daily by the hundred people that makes possible the sustainable mobility of 25% of urban public transport users in the Region, with a 0% CO2 emission to the atmosphere in the city.
