180 riders and 19 teams will participate in the XXXVII edition of the Tour of the Region of Murcia next Saturday (08/02/2017)

The Councilor for Sports and Health, the City of Murcia, Felipe Coello, the Minister of Culture and Portavocía, Noelia Arroyo, and the general director of the Tour of the Region of Murcia, Francisco Guzmán, presented this morning the XXXVII Vuelta a The Region of Murcia 'Gran Premio Banco Sabadell'.

The Tour of the Region of Murcia, will be held on Saturday 11 February and will have the participation of 19 teams from 13 countries and a total of 180 runners.

The race will be carried out under the patronage of the City of Murcia, the regional government and other institutions and companies.

Participants will travel 182.7 kilometers from San Javier to Murcia, as in the last edition, and will pass through sections with important mountainous difficulties, ascending the heights of Aledo, Collado Bermejo and Alto de Gebas.

The departure will take place at 11:00 am in the Barnuevo Esplanade of Santiago de la Ribera and from there, cyclists will head to San Javier, where the launch will be launched.

To Murcia the arrival is expected around 15:30 or 16:00 hours.

Teams from 13 countries

Valverde and Fernandez will run in the Movistar team, while Guardiola will participate as head of Team Ukyo (Japan).

Next to them, in the Selection sub 23 is also one of the Murcia sportsmen with greater projection, Miguel Angel Ballesteros.

It is also foreseen, although in the absence of official confirmation, that the members of the Serbian-Murcia team Dare Gobik Partizan compete on Saturday.

Among the national athletes, in the Movistar stand out Gorka Izaguirre, Imanol Erviti, Jorge Arcas and Marc Soler.

Another strong team will be debutant Bahrain - Merida, Basque Ion Izagirre and Javi Moreno, while Dani Navarro will run in the Cofidis.

There will also be numerous international riders with names such as Romain Sicard (Direct Energie), Portuguese José Mendes (Bora), André Greipel (Lotto Soudal), Australian Mathew Hayman (Orica-Scott) and Belarusian Branislau Samoliau (CCC).

Among the 19 confirmed teams, there are combinations of 13 countries: Spain, Switzerland, Australia, Bahrain, Germany, Belgium, France, Russia, Belgium, Holland, Poland, United States and Japan.
