Let's change proposes a campaign on alternatives to pesticides to prevent the massive loss of bees (07/02/2017)

The councilman of Cambiemos Murcia Sergio Ramos today urged the City Council to launch a municipal campaign to inform farmers about alternatives to the use of pesticides in fruit crops.

With this initiative, the municipal training aims to reduce the high mortality rate in bees in the Region of Murcia, which is the autonomous community where these substances are most used and the third most affected by the loss of pollinators, according to a study by Greenpeace .

The use of certain pesticides in crops at flowering time is ruining beekeepers and eliminating pollinating insects, which are essential to produce a good crop.

In addition, the mayor recalls the affects he has on the health of living things.

Ramos has explained that these harmful insecticides are also used in domestic gardening and in parks of the municipality, so their negative action extends beyond the areas close to crops.

This makes it necessary, according to the mayor, that the Consistory stop using this type of products in public gardens, a fact that is already happening in France, where the Government has banned its use.

In addition, Cambiemos Murcia has expressed its "full support" to the concentration convened by the Association of Beekeepers in front of the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Environment on February 16 at 9 o'clock.
