23,000 young people benefit from the extra-curricular activities that the City Council subsidizes in all institutes (07/02/2017)

The 27 institutes of the municipality have received a total or partial subsidy for the 129 projects that are being developed this course, with an average amount of 3,500 euros per center, "and of which the community of secondary students of Murcia, composed For a total of 23,000 students, "stressed José Ballesta.

The activities - some of which began last December while others will do so throughout 2017 - are focused as an educational complement to promoting social and civic values, bringing young people closer to their immediate surroundings and As a way to channel their creative expression.

Of the projects presented, artistic activities predominate (theater, music, choral singing, etc.), as well as courses on new technologies (robotics, social networks, etc.), as well as workshops in the library, As well as activities related to integration and tolerance.

"They have been selected by the schools themselves, many of which have taken into account the preferences of the students, and there are very innovative projects, such as the creation of an ecological vegetable garden or the Computer Workshop of Children to Parents," said the mayor .

Most of the activities take place in the institutes themselves, although there are some that take place outside, such as outings to nature or to take pictures of the city in photography workshops.

"They all promote educational values ​​in adolescence and the channeling of formative leisure, as part of the integral development of these young people," explained the mayor, who "thanked the commitment of the educational community Murcia and especially the daily work of the Teachers who dedicate their lives to training not only academically, but also in the values ​​of our young people. "

Specifically, the beneficiary centers are the 25 Institutes of Secondary Education (IES) of the municipality, as well as the School of Art and the Center for Basic and Elementary Education of Corvera (CPEIBas), in which it shares the Primary education with the Secondary .

On the other hand, the City Council also offers aid for the development of sports activities, through the program 'Sports in School Age' funded by the Department of Sports and Health.

Theatrical visits in languages ​​and psychosocial counseling

In addition to the activities subsidized, Youth also offers this school year the following programs: Youth counseling and youth information points, European programs for young people, Language stays abroad, Theatrical tours in languages, Summer camps, Leisure activities And free time at the weekend (Networks for Leisure) and the CreaMurcia Contest.

Likewise, the Psychosocial Counseling Service was launched by the Council, offering free talks in all the institutes, with the themes demanded by the managers of the same (cyber-bullying, sexually transmitted diseases, gender violence, racism, etc.) , Which have been taught in almost all HEIs.

Last year also began the personalized, free and confidential Psychosocial Counseling service in the Youth Service to help young people request it (via telephone, face-to-face or virtual).
