The Circus Theater dresses in flamenco (06/02/2017)

The opening of the Teatro Circo will host, from Wednesday 8 February, the exhibition of portraits of Flemish artists 'Seres duende', by the photographer Cartagena Sanchez Montalbán and that is part of the programming of the XXIV Flamenco Show of Murcia.

In this exhibition you can see images of consecrated flamenco artists and young promises such as cantaores, bailaoras, guitarists and percussionists who make up a human and artistic landscape in a selection of great artists from Andalusia.

'Seres duende' is a production of the Music Festival of Granada and has had the collaboration of the singer Juan Pinilla in the selection of artists.

After its passage through the festival of Granada and the Festival of Cante de las Minas de La Unión in 2016, Teatro Circo Murcia will show this exhibition until February 26.

The photographs speak of a common identity, a way of seeing and understanding life from flamenco where the goblin is the backbone that in these portraits seeks to highlight the interior of an unrepeatable personality, marked by the Flemish identity and the artistic personality of Each of the characters.

This is a photographic work carried out in the last two years which involves a commitment to make from the photographic art a historical, artistic and documentary reference of the current flamenco panorama.

Some artists photographed are Mariquilla, Curro Albaicín, Marina Heredia, Juan Pinilla, Curro Andrés, Pepe Habichuela, Eva Yerbabuena, Manolete, La Moneta, Juan Andrés Maya, Rafael Amargo or Miguel Ángel Cortés.

Francisco Sánchez Montalbán is, in addition to one of the most conspicuous Spanish photographers of his generation, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts since October of 2015. He also directs of the Collection of Contemporary Art of the University of Granada from 2008, and coordinates between Others, the Photography Workshop of International Courses Manuel de Falla and the Photographic Encounters of the Mediterranean Center of the University of Granada.

As an artist she has made individual and collective exhibitions of photography, highlighting the exhibitions held in La Madraza, University of Granada (1996), in the Spring Photographic of Catalonia (2001), Museum of the University of Alicante MUA (2004), Museum Of the City of Madrid (2005), Center for Lorquian Studies (2007), Cajarural Foundation of Granada (2011) or Molina Palace of the City of Cartagena (2012).
