The City of Murcia has approved a project for the modification of the municipal ordinance regulating economic benefits, with the aim of facilitating the procedures for vulnerable groups and families to have access to a home.

The amount managed by the Department of Education, Relations with Universities and Heritage, directed by Rafael Gómez Carrasco, to help these families in 2017 is 420,000 euros.

Gómez has indicated that "these grants become a quick alternative to offer residence to families who are on the waiting list to access a municipal housing."

During the past year, more than 275 families benefited from this initiative.

Approximately, in the next three months (after announcement in the BORM) will open a deadline for the presentation of aid to rental, and must meet the following requirements among others:

• Annual income of the coexistence unit between 0.5 and 2.5 of the IPREM.

• Be registered in the municipality of Murcia during the three years prior to the date of the application (except victims of gender violence).

• The annual rent of the rented dwelling must exceed 25 percent of the annual income of the coexistence unit.

Aid to meet social needs

To these grants, those corresponding to the Department of Social Rights, known as 'Municipal Economic Aid for the Attention of Social Needs', are added to these grants, which during the year were granted 737 with an amount of 585,312 euros.
