Environment supervises the work of custody of the territory of the ACUDE association in the municipal estate 'La Tercia' (03/02/2017)

The works that the association is carrying out, restrain the erosive processes of the earth and contribute to its improvement and conservation.

They are also being created from hedges with native shrub species that will reinforce the slopes and avoid superficial surcoiling processes in the future

The town councilor, Environment and Huerta, Antonio Navarro Corchón, visited the municipal estate 'La Tercia', located in the surroundings of Columbares in order to supervise the work of custody of the territory that the association ACUDE is carrying out.

Specifically, the farm that has relevant environmental and landscape values, is seeing its degradation processes corrected thanks to the agreement signed last year with ACUDE to guard, in addition to this property, located in Cabezo de la Plata, called 'Los Santiagos'.

The objective of this agreement, which has an amount of 10,000 euros, is to have a quality environmental management in these areas, preserving the cultural, natural and landscape values and the promotion of traditional uses of the environment compatible with its conservation.

This action aims to promote an activity of public utility or social interest for the sustainable development of municipal forest farms and to curb erosive processes of the land.

The actions that the association is carrying out are:

-Vigilance on incidents in the municipal forest farms, transferring the same to the City of Murcia.

-Inventory of existing environmental goods, such as flora and fauna, and plans for the promotion of Biodiversity.

-Assessment in the Action Plans that the City of Murcia provides for public farms of a forestry nature.

-Collaboration in campaigns to promote protected areas, public property, including the conduct of educational workshops and conferences organized by the City.

-Realization of education programs and environmental disclosure of the values of these characteristics of the area, in coordination with municipal programs.

-Facilitate the public use of the municipal forest farms in accordance with the natural values of the area.

-To make available to the City Council, on a periodic basis, the information that is determined in order to facilitate the monitoring of activities on farms, as well as to obtain a model applicable to other areas of the municipality.

Among the actions that are being carried out, we emphasize mules tillage, a method that avoids soil compaction and is environmentally more sustainable for small plots than the use of heavy machinery such as tractors.

In addition to soil tillage, rainfed cereals are being planted to reinforce wildlife resources and encourage prey species of endangered predator species that inhabit the environment, such as the Royal Owl, Perdicera Eagle Or the Royal Eagle, among others.

They are also creating hedges with native shrub species that will reinforce the slopes and avoid superficial surcoiling processes in the future.

The actions of management of the environment are being complemented by informative actions for the enhancement of this municipal public heritage and for the inhabitants of the municipality to know what their City Council and specifically the Environment service performs for its improvement and conservation.
