The mayor of Murcia, Jose Ballesta, accompanied by the Councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, received today in the City Hall the delegation of the Japanese city of Fujinomiya, with its mayor, Hideta Sudo, the front.

The visit of the delegation to Spain aims to ratify the pre-agreement reached last December between Fujinomiya and the Royal Spanish Federation of Karate, by which Spanish karate can concentrate and train in the sports facilities of the Japanese city, face To the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.

José Ballesta said that "Murcia is a city that has a fondness for karate that is gaining strength day by day, thanks to the work that is done from the Federation" and recalled that "last April we hosted the Children's Championship of Spain, The largest participation in the national level, in which we have the participation of the Senior World Champion team, in which we have high expectations for Tokyo 2020, after achieving at the Linz World Cup 2016 the money of Damián Quintero and The bronze of Sandra Sanchez ".

The meeting was attended by various Japanese officials including the head of the Fujinomiya Tourism Division, Mishiyasu Masataka, and the coordinator of relations with the Spanish Federation of Karate and vice-president for Europe and Latin America of Okinwa Gojuryu Karatedo Kyokai, Ryoichi Onaga Resides and teaches in the city of Murcia, as well as the president of the Karate Federation of the Region, Guillermo Cánovas.

Located in Shizouka Prefecture, with 130,000 inhabitants, Fujinomiya also seeks with this agreement to be signed at the Japanese Embassy to promote tourism and publicize the attractions of the city on the European continent and, more specifically, in Spain.

After the institutional visit to the City Council, the delegation made a guided tour of the city of Murcia.
