Renewal of the members of the Economic and Administrative Council (30/01/2017)

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, accompanied by the Councilor for Finance and Contracting, Eduardo Martinez-Oliva, chaired this morning in the plenary hall the act of taking office of the members of the Economic Administrative Council of Murcia, who renew their posts As decision-makers for a period of 5 years.

The act complies with a motion approved in plenary last December and has meant the renewal in its position as president of Santos Ortiz Hernandez, former auditor general of the City, and as members Mariano Barreda Ruiz, former head of the Management Service Tributaria, and Antonio Plaza Garcia, former head of the Local Police and former Commissioner of the National Police.

This independent municipal body is also composed of former mayors Clemente García, Antonio Bódalo and José Méndez, who have the right to speak, but not to vote, for which they carry out an advisory work, as opposed to the decision of the other three members.

It is also composed of a secretary, Roque Moya.

Its work focuses on the resolution of appeals and claims regarding municipal taxes and fines or sanctions, and since its establishment in 2007 has resolved more than 12,000 cases related mainly to traffic, closure schedules and urbanism.

After being constituted in November 2007, the Economic and Administrative Council of Murcia was renewed in 2012 and now, five years later, the three senior retired officials return to occupy the designated positions.
