The City Council approves to remove the pipes with asbestos at the proposal of Cambiemos Murcia (26/01/2017)

The Plenum of the City of Murcia has unanimously approved a motion of Cambiemos Murcia for Emuasa to push a plan for the elimination of drinking water pipes containing asbestos or derivatives thereof.

Councilor for municipal training Nacho Tornel recalled that in Spain the use of asbestos has been banned since 2001 because of its harmful effects on health and that in 2013 the European Parliament warned of the presence of this material in water networks.

For the withdrawal, Cambiemos Murcia has raised in its proposal the preparation by Emuasa of an audit on the quantity and status of potable water pipes that may contain asbestos in the municipal networks.

In addition, the Corporation has given the green light to the motion of Sergio Ramos for the design of a website that integrates all the public calls of the municipal boards, whether cultural, sports, recreational, training or its plenary meetings.

The realization of this measure will allow the citizens to know the actions organized by the boards because at present, because of the "arbitrary character" of the mechanisms with which the City Council has, they spread outside the districts and districts that organize them.

However, the initiative of Ramos has not gone ahead so that spaces not dedicated to worship that are owned by the Catholic Church and other religious denominations pay the IBI.

PP and Citizens have presented an alternative to it to hold a meeting with the technicians of the Department of Finance to explain to the municipal groups the actions they have implemented in relation to the Church and the Tributes.

Regarding the joint motions, two of the three subscribed by Cambiemos Murcia have been approved.

One of them is related to the construction or expansion of the Center for Training and Employment Initiatives, because the current facilities have become small and obsolete.

The other request that the mayor receive the representatives of the association affected by the expropriations for the construction of the Tiñosa bridge, with the aim of informing about the project and analyzing, together with the corresponding technicians, the possible alternatives.

The motion filed with Now Murcia for the City Council's Consumer Service to advise free of charge, both in person and telematic, to people in the municipality affected by the clauses soil on their mortgages has been withdrawn because the rest of groups Have presented an alternative that distorted the first proposal.
