The Department of Education, Relations with Universities and Heritage is finalizing a comprehensive plan to provide the courtyards of schools in the municipality shaded areas to protect students from the sun and high temperatures.
This was stated by the head of the area, Rafael Gómez, in the plenary session this morning, in which he recalled that this is a priority action to develop this year.
To this end, he pointed out that the draft budgets of 2017 prepared by the Government Team foresee to reserve a sufficient heading to start these works.
Meanwhile, in the service of Education works are reviewing the facilities of schools and the need to incorporate shadow systems where they do not exist.
The aim is, on the one hand, to select the appropriate materials for awnings and pergolas and, on the other hand, the adequacy of tree pruning to increase natural shade areas.
With this treatment will gain about 10% of protected area.
This action does not include the new centers, since the new schools already have from the beginning of their activity with areas of shade through pergolas.
