The Public Transport Bureau will hold its first meeting next February (23/01/2017)

The Committee of Plenary Infrastructures, Finance and General Affairs has favorably ruled this morning the regulation of creation and regulation of the Bureau of Public Transport in the municipality of Murcia.

The Public Transportation Bureau of the municipality of Murcia will be chaired by the Mayor and vice-president of the councilor Roque Ortiz.

The members will be, in addition to the Councilor for Traffic, Lola Sánchez, a representative for each of the municipal groups with representation in the Municipal Plenary and the General Director of Transport of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, a representative of the concessionaire Municipal of the Murcia Tram, of the municipal concessionaire of the urban buses of Murcia, of the autonomous concessionaire of interurban buses of districts, of the Sectorial Table of the Taxi, of the Federation of Associations of Neighbors, of the Federation of Associations of Commerce, The most representative association of consumers and users of the municipality of Murcia, the Spanish Committee of Representatives of people with disabilities based in the Region of Murcia, the Municipal Bike Observatory, the environmental organizations of the municipality of Murcia and each Of the Business Committees of the operators of public transport services in the municipality of Murcia.

In this way, Ortiz explains, it is sought "to provide this Bureau with the greatest possible representation so that all the suggestions of the different sectors related to transportation can be collected".

Likewise, an Advisory Commission for the Bureau will be set up, which will be coordinated by the Director of Transport of the City of Murcia and the Manager of the concessionaire company of the Tranvía de Murcia, the Manager of the concessionaire of the municipal urban transport service, Manager of the concessionary company with autonomous ownership of buses in districts, a representative appointed by the Taxi Sectoral Bureau, the Local Police Chief, the Municipal Traffic Service Chief, the Chief of the Municipal Environment Service, the Chief Of the Municipal Service of Works and Projects and the Director of the Office of the Bicycle

Likewise, representatives from the University of Murcia, the San Antonio Catholic University and the Official College of Road, Channel and Port Engineers will be part of this committee, and the Director or Head of the Department of Transportation Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.

The Councilor recalled that "this Transport Bureau will be in charge of analyzing the situation of mobility and transport in the municipality of Murcia, city and districts, and propose and promote initiatives to promote the use of sustainable public transport and Encourage coordination between public or private institutions or entities to carry out initiatives and actions that improve mobility through the use of sustainable transport, among other actions. "

This collegiate body shall meet in ordinary session, at least once a semester and, in extraordinary session, when it is determined by its President on its own initiative or at the written request of at least one-third of its components.
