Citizens once again demand a modification of the regulatory ordinance for public spaces in Murcia (13/01/2017)

The municipal group Citizens has once again called on the local government to take seriously the implementation of an urgent modification of the Regulatory Ordinance of the Public Road.

"Since the beginning of the legislature we have been demanding these changes that we believe necessary to carry out as soon as possible," said Mario Gómez, spokesman for the orange formation in Murcia City Hall, who hopes that the meeting held this week between the local government and the Sector of the hotel industry "is a turning point to carry out the modification of the ordinance".

"Although the PP has expressed an interest in doing so, the reality is quite different," said Gómez, who has denounced that "the local government acts on impulse and makes decisions that, in addition to contravening the ordinance, harm all citizens" .

For the orange spokesman, "the Popular Party should be more dedicated to order than to sanction";

"And to order, he stressed, they would have to get down to work to adjust the current ordinance and adjust it to the needs of neighbors, visitors and entrepreneurs."

Lack of judgment of the mayor Guillén

In this sense, Gómez has made an assessment of the last order of councilman José Guillén to prevent closing the terraces of Murcia with awnings.

In his opinion, his attitude reveals "his lack of criteria and respect for businessmen, without prior notice and on the eve of parties, forbids them to put up vertical awnings, after having supposedly allowed them for years to install" .

"A disdain and permissiveness that, for the C's spokesman, reaches unsuspected extremes in the case of a businessman and pedantic of the PP who even has an air conditioning (we understand that completely illegal) installation on the awning of his bar, in the square Of the Square of the Flowers ".

This is the policy practiced by the PP, a policy of cronies and facing the gallery, Gomez denounced, to continue to fail to meet its own standards.

"It is not for the businessmen to make them pay for striped awnings while the ordinance establishes (art.17.2) that they have to be of a single color and of light tones;

And that the neighbors promise to regulate public spaces for their enjoyment but, depending on the areas, we see how the facilities occupy the squares 24 hours a day.
