The Councilor for Modernization of Administration, Urban Quality and Participation, José Guillén, visited this morning the new shaded areas of children's games located in the neighborhood of San Andrés (in front of the health center), in Espinardo (Avenue Marqués de Espinardo ) And on Avenida de la Libertad, which add to the already installed in Plaza de Castilla.
These new facilities respond to the commitment of Mayor José Ballesta, who last September announced a plan to install awnings in the children's zones of the municipality in order to provide shade in these spaces and mitigate the heat of summer.
The new shaded areas occupy a space of about 80 square meters with metal pillars and a perforated colored stone awning.
The Parks and Gardens Service has carried out a study of the shade projections of the trees and of the buildings in the green zones of the municipality in order that at least 50% have shade, combining these awnings with trees.
In this way the integration of natural shade plus the pergola is sought as integration of elements of civil works with the park.
This initiative is part of the SOMBRA Plan and the intention of the Department of Modernization to convert children's areas into 100% safe spaces, with rubber pavement and fences to ensure an environment adapted to the smallest.
According to Councilman José Guillén, "we want gardens to be living spaces, meeting and enjoyment of families and neighbors of all ages and so we are carrying out this plan to improve green areas in order to provide them with all Facilities necessary for the Murcia to live their gardens ".
It should be remembered that the City Council also installed shade awnings last summer in the historic center of Platería, Trapería, San Cristóbal and Joufré and Esteve Mora squares, with the aim of favoring the pedestrian walk in these commercial streets of the city that Are very busy.
