Development technicians review the San Esteban site after heavy rains (30/12/2016)

The recovery of the whole receives these days the definitive impulse for its implementation, since it is imminent the contracting of the master plan and of the renovation of the measures of conservation and protection for the archaeological remains.

The municipal technicians of the Department of Development have worked in recent days on conservation tasks of the San Esteban site, after the episode of heavy rains that the municipality suffered a few dates, which motivated the declaration of an area seriously affected by emergencies. Council of Ministers last week.

To this end, in addition to the inspection and cleaning work, the six bilge pumps installed for extracting the water accumulated by storms have been checked. It should be remembered that in two days Murcia received 57% of the normal volume of Rain of the whole year, reaching an average of 172 l / m2.

Despite the intensity of the storm, the pumps worked properly, both the five placed in strategic points as the mobile, which is installed at some point when necessary.

Variations that occur in a specific way in the subsoil can cause the residual appearance of water, in which case the pumps are put into operation.

At the same time, the City Council continues to work to put in value the archaeological remains and transform a strategic space into a reference point of Murcia, including the recovery for public use of the garden of San Esteban and its urban surroundings, with the incorporation of the palace and church.

The project has received these days the definitive impulse for its execution, since it was object of the table of hiring of the last week - of which they comprise representatives of all the political groups -, where the proposals received were carried out to carry out The drafting of the master plan and the offers were known to contract the renewal of conservation and protection measures for archaeological remains.

Both projects will also add the project of pedestrian conditioning of the environment, which will be the object of adjudication in the coming days.

The three actions reach a bidding budget of 566,000 euros.
