Los Rosales unemployed people will work next year in the rehabilitation of 259 homes in the neighborhood (30/12/2016)

The Government Board has today awarded the works, which will be complemented by an employment plan and a social project aimed at the inhabitants of this area of ​​El Palmar.

The company, Azuche 88, will have the obligation to incorporate 30% of the unemployed people into the workforce, half of them under the age of 30, and the remaining 50% of long-term unemployed.

In addition, the "ARRU Space" will be inaugurated, aimed at social entities and neighborhood activities, and an environmental health plan and a youth urban art plan will be developed.

Los Rosales unemployed people will work next year on the rehabilitation of 259 homes in the neighborhood, whose project has today awarded the Governing Board to the company Azuche 88, with a budget of € 1.1M and a projected execution period of 7 months .

Its obligations include more actions than those related to construction, since it must also develop measures aimed at improving the living conditions of its inhabitants.

This social aspect was taken into account with the first phase of the plan of regeneration and renovation of this neighborhood, and will also be implemented in the second phase that is now underway.

This social action will cover different lines of action:

- Information office in the Plaza de las Acacias: As a point of information and meeting of the project and of the neighbors, where they can make inquiries about the situation of the work and the social activities that are carried out.

It also serves as a point of collection of inscriptions for courses, curriculum, etc.

The "ARRU Space" will be inaugurated, rehabilitated by the Housing service, destined for social entities and neighborhood activities.

- Actions aimed at promoting employment: the contractor must incorporate 30% of unemployed workers in the neighborhood into its workforce.

And of this 30%, 50% will be young people under 30 years, and the remaining 50%, long-term unemployed.

In addition, a nursery of organic farming companies will be created in El Palmar and training courses, job guidance talks, curriculum collection for inclusion in the City Hall Employment Exchange and for the youngest in the youth guarantee program .

- Formation of communities of owners: information, advice and training to the owners and tenants, to constitute the communities of neighbors.

- Socio-educational activities: a workshop of "basic DIY and simple repairs in the home" will be set up to maintain the house in good conditions of habitability, with basic knowledge of electricity, plumbing, painting and masonry;

"Family health" workshop, for disease prevention, healthy eating and use of public health resources;

And a "first aid" workshop.

- Actions of neighborhood participation and fostering of coexistence: in order to "improve neighborhood coexistence in the neighborhood", actions related to "Café Barrial" have been designed: a meeting point to address issues that affect welfare and coexistence local;

Workshop on the history and future of the neighborhood;

And I work in the street.

Mediation in conflicts and accompaniment.

- Awareness in health and environmental aspects: respect the neighborhood, take care of it and improve it.

- Youth plan.

Urban art: Creating spaces for the participation of young people through urban art

259 homes with 10 buildings

The award of the project approved today by the Governing Board provides for the rehabilitation of 259 homes, 61 of them municipal, distributed in 10 blocks of buildings

The works are financed by the City Hall (62%), the Ministry of Public Works (31.5%) and the Autonomous Community (6.5%).

It mainly affects buildings in the north and south, where the most degraded buildings are located and, when the works are executed, 71% of the neighborhood will have been renovated and the process will be started to complete the plan, covering the remaining 29%.

The first phase, which ended in May, allowed the rehabilitation of 379 homes in 14 blocks, which adapted the façades, renovated sanitation and improved access to real estate.

In addition, the common spaces of the neighborhood were redesigned and the pavement, furniture and lighting were renewed.

All this, with a budget of almost 1.7 million euros.

In this way, and once the second phase is completed, the rehabilitation of 638 homes and 24 blocks will have been carried out, in which a total of € 2.9M will have been invested.
