The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, requested today that expedited the necessary procedures for the execution of the Arco Norte and the Northwest Arc of the city of Murcia.

"We want the start of the works of these infrastructures so necessary for Murcia to be a reality without delay," said the mayor during the commissioning of the new branch between the A-7 and A-30 dual carriageways.

The North and Northwest Arches project involves the construction of two new stretches of motorway, by the Ministry of Development, which will alleviate the intense traffic of the A-7 link with the A-30, as it passes through the north Of the city of Murcia, a point with one of the highest traffic intensities in the capital, with an average of more than 100,000 vehicles per day.

In fact, the new infrastructure that has been opened today pursues the same objective: to discharge the traffic of one of the most traveled areas.

"This is a long-awaited work, one of the points with more traffic not only in the region, but the whole national territory," said the mayor, who recalled that "the seventh capital of Spain needs the arrival of high Speed underground, just as they already have 30 capitals of our country. "

The improvements brought about by the road link with Juan de Borbón Avenue are of great importance for local traffic, as a significant number of people access Murcia daily from the towns of the north of the Province (Molina de Segura, Archena, Cieza, etc.) and were suffering slow traffic at certain peak times, which will henceforth be speeded up.

Also, both vehicles that access the urban area from the highway itself, either from the east (from Alicante) or from the west (from Andalusia) will see improved traffic and road safety.
