With a professional trajectory of more than 40 years, is National Prize of Plastic Arts of Spain

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, and members of the Municipal Corporation inaugurated this afternoon the Isidoro Valcárcel Medina Garden, Avenida Juan de Borbón, in an event that was attended by the honored artist, National Prize of Plastic Arts of Spain 2007).

During his speech, José Ballesta emphasized "the artistic and personal coherence of Isidoro Valcárcel, one of the most representative plastic artists of national and international conceptual art, who stands out above all for being a free man, committed to his time and his time ".

Isidoro Valcárcel - also recognized with the Velázquez Prize for Plastic Arts in 2015 - left Murcia at the age of 19 to study Architecture and Fine Arts in Madrid.

"With a professional career of more than 40 years, Isidoro Valcárcel Medina retains that unique and exclusive essence of what Murcia has always carried out wherever it was," said the mayor.

As an artist, he has evolved and gone through different periods, which has led him to create all kinds of works and pieces: painting, sound records, photographs, films, architecture projects, books and performances.

His work has evolved from objective proposals to a dematerialization that favors the appearance of an attitude that transforms the consciousness of perception not so much into a work of art but into an experience of art.

This attitude allows him to interrelate life with art, and art with a critical and provocative reflection of reality, obtaining "an outstanding contribution from the ethical, political and social commitment," according to the Ministry of Culture.

The inauguration was attended by different authorities of the culture: professors of Art of the University of Murcia, of the Schools of Art and Design, as well as Murcia painters and sculptors.

During the tribute took place the performance of the Bell of Auroros Virgen del Rosario.
