The pruning of winter of more than a thousand trees begins in Murcia and pedanías (18/12/2016)

The Parks and Gardens Department, which is part of the Department of Modernization of Administration, Urban Quality and Participation, led by José Guillén, has begun the winter pruning campaign of more than a thousand trees in Murcia and the districts.

Four teams formed by 15 people in total will be dedicated to pruning tipuanas, jacarandas and elm trees among other species in the coming months as it is the best time for the individuals as they are in a winter stop.

These works will be carried out until next March.

The councilman explained that "this date is chosen because it is when the specimens are in what the specialists call 'winter stop' and the specimens are dormant, so that no damage is caused by pruning."

For these tasks, which will be carried out both in Murcia and in each of the different districts, will be used trucks octopus, basket truck and articulated arm.

Guillén remembers that this pruning will be carried out, like all the works that are done from the council, avoiding in the possible cause annoyances for the neighbors of the affected areas.

The more than a thousand specimens that have begun to prune will allow adequate maintenance for trees, especially tipuanas, jacarandas and deciduous trees.

These works are in addition to those being carried out by a group of 25 operators also in these winter months, which consists of planting more than a thousand new trees, especially mulberries, orange trees and some other native species in different green areas.
