240,000 euros to support traditional trade (16/12/2016)

The Governing Board has approved three proposals from the Department of Commerce and Institutional Relations that provide for grants of 240,000 euros for the Federation of Municipal Markets, 12 associations of merchants and the group of street vendors .

The approval of these grants is part of the overall plan of the City Council to promote measures to boost the commercial sector of neighborhoods and districts and create networks of trust and collaboration in traditional trade that allow an improvement in the competitiveness of retail trade compared to other types Of commerce, also facilitating the access of new entrepreneurs to business activity.

The objective is to strengthen the capacity of attraction of Murcia as a city of shopping, and boost cultural tourism, commercial, gastronomic, leisure and free time, and consensuar actions encompassed within the Muac brand, Murcia Commercial Area.

The first of the agreements approved today refers to the granting of a subsidy to the Federation of Municipal Markets amounting to 10,000 euros, destined to the realization of campaigns of promotion and commercial publicity and dynamization of the municipal retail markets.

Under the Muac Plan

In addition, the Council that directs Maruja Pelegrín will contribute 130,000 euros to the 12 associations of merchants of neighborhoods and districts, specifically, the associations Triángulo, Murcia Center, Platería and Trapería, Carmen, Carmelitanos, The Fleet, Vistalegre, Zarandona, Puente Tocinos, Beniaján, Alquerías and La Alberca.

This collaboration is a consequence of the commitment of the City Council with these business organizations, which it considers preferential partners of the Council to agree and implement the lines of action of the strategic plan for retail trade - Plan Muac - to make it possible to boost commercial areas and attract new customers.

Likewise, the Association of Outbound Salesmen will receive a grant of 100,000 euros from the municipal budgets, aimed at the aesthetic improvement and promotion of the commuter traffic of the municipality, in addition to offering advice, help and support.
