Congress has focused on this issue in Mercy.

In this regard, Father Bernard Ardura has pointed out that this concept can help in relation to justice and the right to understand that "not only the guilty must be punished, but deserves salvation, and that implies not only giving the opportunity Reintegration, but that Mercy, what allows is the rehabilitation even of the one who has fallen, who has sinned, who has committed the crime. "

And as a note on what Christianity also contributes to this aspect, he assures us that "we can find in all others, even in the guilty, the face of God, which implies that we are all made in the image and likeness of him."

Similarly, he stressed that society has to "find mechanisms so that mercy is capable of tempering in some way and measuring the application of justice directed not to punishment but to salvation."

For his part, Javier Belda has recalled that more than 70 experts from countries such as Portugal, Belgium, Israel, USA, England or Italy are participating in the Congress;

And added that "we have succeeded in making the Innocent III Lecture each December an appointment in which law historians look to the UCAM and the Chair as the place to find a point of reflection, an opportunity to meet , And to pool their own research. "

On the theme of the Congress has stated that a society will always be better "when those who have even been wrong, can be re-educated to really become part of society. We have to be able, without detracting from what he has done, educate him , In such a way as to prevent it from happening again. "

Fr. Manuel J. Arroba, president of the Institute of Utriusque Iuris, Pontificia Università Lateranense (Rome), said that this congress, "which has a great reception", allows us to reflect on the relationship between Mercy and Justice, Is related to the believers: "There is an opportunity to improve human relations if one understands well in what relation these two terms are found."
