The digitized funds of the Municipal Archives grow thanks to the Crimson Project (13/12/2016)

The Councilor for Employment, Tourism and Culture, Jesús Pacheco, received this morning a DVD with all the digitized documentation of the City of Murcia digitized this year by the Autonomous Community and the Integra Foundation within the project Crimson.

Thus, the Municipal Archive of Murcia has collaborated providing real documents received in the Council of Murcia in the period between 1505 to 1556, period that includes the reigns of Dona Juana (1505-1515) and his son Carlos V (1516-1557) , Linking, in this way, with the first phase of the project, in which documents were digitized from the Middle Ages to the reign of the Catholic Monarchs (1266-1504).

In this way, documents produced by the Council of Murcia in the same period (1505 to 1556) have been digitized, such as neighboring registers, patterns of knights of quantity, forerunners, as well as Butler Books or handwritten books produced by The Council of Murcia in the exercise of its functions.

This digitized documentation, involves the incorporation of about 15,000 new digital images from the Municipal Archive of Murcia to this project.

The Crimson Project (Catalog of Archives of the Region of Murcia in the Information Society) was born in 2005 in order to disseminate the documentary heritage of the Region of Murcia and protect it to ensure its conservation thanks to the collaboration of different organisms , Institutions and administrations.

The plan has been developed in phases over the years, digitizing documents kept in the archives of the region, as well as diverse documentary background.

The Integra Foundation assumed the commitments to collaborate in the definition, planning and development of the project's actions and to carry out the contracting of the actions related to the digitization of the archives and their diffusion through the Digital Murcia Region portal.

The Municipal Archive of Murcia has collaborated in almost all its phases digitizing part of its rich documentary heritage.
