Consumer controls this Christmas the foods put up for sale in 700 stores of grocery stores, supermarkets and markets (10/12/2016)

The campaign emphasizes the control of temperatures, in order to verify that it is correct and maintains the cold chain.

The Department of Commerce, Organization and Institutional Relations is carrying out a control and surveillance campaign to ensure the sanitary quality of food products typical of these dates, such as meats, seafood, fish, salted, pastry, confectionery and other Christmas sweets.

The control and surveillance initiative will include 220 establishments from the eight stores, 125 supermarkets and supermarkets, 450 stalls from the 53 weekly markets and the sale of food products at the fair in Alfonso X.

The information campaign aims to provide consumers with a set of recommendations that should be taken into account when making the shopping basket (labeling information and appropriate characteristics of the food products exposed to the sale: fish, molluscs, crustaceans , Meats, pastries, nougat, marzipan and cavas), as well as in the conservation of these foods in the home.

Three inspectors, with the support of the staff of the Municipal Laboratory, are making visits to all establishments to verify the presentation, conservation, labeling or identification and documentation of origin of the products exposed for sale.

In particular, they will monitor the sanitary quality, origin, exhibition and conservation of meat, fish and seafood.

With respect to the latter, the control will extend to the degree of freshness, to the obligatory self-checks on the presence of anisakis and the verification of the minimum sizes.

In addition, local technicians will carry out a specific check on the preservation, labeling and expiration of selected snacks (smoked, salted, sausages, cold meats and pates) and typical Christmas products.

This monitoring and surveillance campaign, which is already under way, will last until December 30.

To carry out an operation has been programmed through the Consumer Inspection Service, composed of three inspectors and staff of the Municipal Laboratory, to increase inspections in establishments that sell food in order to verify the food safety requirements of its facilities , The sanitary quality of the products they make and sell and the documentation that guarantees the traceability of the same.
