The Councilor for Modernization of Administration, Urban Quality and Participation, José Guillén, attended this morning together with the Minister of Finance and Public Administration, Andrés Carrillo, to sign the declaration of World Information Day with the deans of the Professional College Of Computer Engineering, Juan Salvador Castejón, and of the Professional College of Technical Engineers and Graduates in Computer Science, Celestino Avilés.
The Plaza de Santo Domingo has hosted this morning the act in which both professional colleges have called on "European governments and society in general to carry out a rigorous and thorough assessment of the impact of products, activities and services Computer systems in the general interest and fundamental rights, in order to determine the cases in which it would be advisable to establish some type of regulation or administrative control. "
It also calls for "the creation of mechanisms for governance, control and regulation of computer products, activities and services at national, European and international level, in a manner consistent with the Information and Knowledge Society."
Finally, the declaration states "the need for European countries to lead or be part of the international vanguard in this initiative so important for the construction of the Information Society and Knowledge in which we live and where computing is a Essential raw material for competitiveness and economic and social sustainability ".
