Five taxi drivers renew their adapted vehicles thanks to a subsidy from the City Hall (02/12/2016)

The Governing Board has given approval to the subsidy of 30,000 euros for five taxi drivers who have renovated their taxis adapted during this exercise.

The Department of Development has awarded each of them 6,000 euros in order to improve the accessibility of public transport in the municipality and provide disabled people with adapted vehicles.

According to the latest study 'State of the fleet of accessible taxis in municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitants in Spain', produced by Fundación ONCE and the Spanish Committee of Representatives of Persons with Disabilities (CERMI), Murcia is the first city in the Region Complies with the 5% quota of accessible taxis established by the current regulations.

The capital currently has 41 adapted taxis, which represents 14.2 percent of the total of its fleet, according to the report.

The study, which also analyzes the situation in provincial capitals, also indicates that only 25.8% of the cities in all Spain comply with this requirement, which means that in 74.2% of the municipalities there are even fewer Of five taxis adapted for each 100 of the fleet.

On the other hand, and also related to the taxi sector, the Governing Board has given approval to the weekly taxi drivers' rest schedule for next year.

Thus, as requested by the taxi drivers themselves in the Bureau of Taxi License Holders, the same calendar will be maintained as in 2016, which is as follows:

- Rotary shifts for the weekends, Friday from 10:00 p.m. to 14:00 p.m. on Saturday;

And Saturdays from 14.00 to 6.00 hours on Sunday, depending on whether the license number is even or odd.

- Establish the groups of the different shifts, named with the letters A, B, C, D and E, with a red or black color, which must be in the vehicle with permanent and fixed adhesive, located on the right and Left of the vehicle.

- The mandatory daily duty shifts are determined, with the service offer being 60% of the fleet from 5:00 to 3:00 p.m. and 40% from 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The hours of 1'00 to 5'00 can be made for 100% of the licenses.
