The City of Murcia has presented the project 'Carril Bici Murcia in the General Assembly of the Network of Cities for the Bike, held this morning in Madrid and framed in the activities planned within the National Congress of Environment (CONAMA).
Antonio Navarro Corchón has announced this project that the City of Murcia has already begun to run and will serve to build 20km of new cycle lanes segregated by the city of Murcia, which will help complement the existing network of bike lanes and cycle paths of the municipality.
In addition, during the Assembly, the importance of promoting the use of bicycles in all its areas, the struggle for the increase in citizen awareness and for making coexistence between drivers and cyclists and between cyclists and pedestrians has been highlighted. .
In addition, the need to promote urban bicycle infrastructure, such as bike lanes and exclusive bicycle parking facilities, as well as the work done in the area of ​​the registration bike, has also been shared.
Finally, this meeting has served to discuss the need to create a specific state plan for the bicycle, which serves as a framework and benchmark for planning coordinated activities and unifying actions in favor of bicycle development in Spain, with the largest Number of key players possible.
Murcia currently has the vice-presidency of the Network, and has great experience within it because it has already presided over the network during the year 2014 and 2015.
