Under the heading 'Adapting cities to climate change', the City of Murcia, through the Department of Urbanism, Environment and Huerta, headed by Antonio Navarro Corchón, today participated in the thirteenth edition of the National Congress of the Environment (CONAMA), which is held in Madrid until December 1.
Navarro Corchón has exposed the Road Map of the city of Murcia to achieve its Adaptation Plan, which has addressed content such as vulnerability analysis and climate risks, design and deployment of adaptation measures, governance and work in network.
The city of Murcia, very active in European networks of adaptation and mitigation, was recently selected from more than 60 European cities applicants to participate in the twinning program between cities in the fight against climate change, a program promoted through the initiative European 'Mayors Adapt', to which Murcia joined in 2014.
Navarro said that "we must win the battle against climate change" because "it is already a fact that urban activities are responsible for most of the emissions of greenhouse gases that affect d ecosystems and The capacity of resilience of the same to cope with their deterioration ".
CONAMA is an annual celebration congress, an open, plural and participatory forum for sustainability in Spain, held until December 1, 2016 at the Palacio Municipal de Congresos de Madrid.
