The City and ANSE work on the environmental recovery of the river corridor of the Contraparada (25/11/2016)

Through the Council of Urbanism, Environment and Huerta, the City of Murcia and the Association of Naturalists of the Southeast (ANSE) have signed a collaboration agreement to advance the environmental recovery of the river corridor in the vicinity of the Contraparada.

In this way, explained the Councilor for the Environment, who has been accompanied by the director of ANSE, Pedro García, that "are going to carry out environmental improvement activities for the defense of the environment, conservation of nature and Ecological processes, preserving biodiversity and ensuring the sustainable use of renewable natural resources. "

In addition, maintenance work will be carried out on restorations, replacement of branches, irrigation for more remote trees;

Installation and signage of posters that include environmental services of the forest to avoid otter abuse;

Replacement of landscaping with exotic species by native species;

And promotion of the recovery of meanders, among others.

Likewise, plantations will be carried out by volunteers, a biological monitoring will be carried out in the corridor area;

The Murcia-Contraparada corridor will be promoted as a carbon sink and also a river custody agreement between the Segura Hydrographic Confederation (CHS), the City Council and ANSE to recover the riverbank forest in that environment.

The City of Murcia "continues to demonstrate its commitment to the recovery, conservation and promotion of the natural space of the Huerta de Murcia," finished Navarro Corchón.
