Murcia will be national capital of the rhythmic gymnastics of the 1 to 4 of December (23/11/2016)

According to forecasts, more than 2,000 gymnasts will participate and will have more than 5,000 attendees.

It is the eighth national sporting championship to be held this year in the city, within the commitment of the Mayor to organize a major event each month.

Murcia will host, from the 1st to the 4th of December, the Championship of Spain of sets of Rhythmic Gymnastics 2016, becoming during these days in national capital of this sport.

The previous appointments were competitions of water polo, rugby, athletics, handball, soccer, fishing and volleyball.

The event that will take place next week is organized by the Federation of Gymnastics of the Region of Murcia, in collaboration with the Department of Sports and Health and the General Directorate of Sports, and will run at the Palacio de los Deportes.

According to estimates, more than 2,000 gymnasts will participate and will have more than 5,000 assistants.

Also, the championship will be followed by streaming, with an expected audience of 50,000 spectators.

The Mayor, José Ballesta, stressed that "Murcia is back on track with the sport and will begin the month of December combining the competition and the companionship of this sport.

The rhythmic gymnastics teams of our municipality are at the top of the national scene, achieving great achievements and being a pride for all Murcia. "

Ballesta added that this championship "is a great benefit for the city as much for the hotel occupancy as for the establishments of hospitality, as well as for the promotion of the city that reports the organization of this type of events."

Rhythmic gymnastics is a discipline that combines elements of ballet, gymnastics and dance, along with the handling of different devices such as rope, hoop, ball, clubs and tape.

This competition consists of two phases:

General classification: all the categories participating, will make two passes of the same exercise, whose average grade will serve to establish the first three classified in each category.

Classification by end: where the first 8 classified in each category participate in the general.

Each federation of autonomous area will have five sets per category (youngest, juvenile, juvenile, junior, senior, 1st category) aged between 8 and 20 years.

Each set consists of a maximum of 7 gymnasts and two technicians.

The championship will be divided into a day of training and three of official competition.

Thus, after the official training, which will take place on December 1, the competition will begin on December 2 in the morning and in the afternoon and the inaugural ceremony will be held.

On December 3 there will also be competition throughout the day with delivery of medals of general classification, while day 4, in the morning, will end the competition with the delivery of medals of the finals.
