The ONCE brings to Murcia an intelligent house in which design and accessibility go hand in hand (22/11/2016)

The housing, accessible and sustainable, has the most modern advances to adapt to the needs and circumstances of the people who inhabit it.

The Mayor has visited today the house, equipped with more than one hundred technological solutions to ensure equality of opportunity, from beds that regulate your height with a remote control, a hairdryer for the whole body, convertible chair in wheelchair, Carpets with presence detection or scales or kitchen scale speakers.

The Plaza de la Cruz Roja will host until next Saturday the smart, accessible and sustainable house of the ONCE Foundation, a palpable sample that design, good taste and universal accessibility are concepts that can always go hand in hand.

To prove this, the house is equipped with the necessary measures to ensure equal opportunities.

Older people or people with disabilities of any kind can have the same level of comfort and security guaranteed, and for this, the ONCE Foundation and the Disability Board have installed more than one hundred technological solutions in the home, demonstrating that this potential can be used In favor of social inclusion.

The Mayor, José Ballesta, attended the inauguration of the smart house, along with the Minister for Development and Infrastructures, Pedro Rivera, the President of the Territorial Council of ONCE in Murcia, Teresa Lajarín, and the Territorial Delegate of ONCE in the Region of Murcia, Juan Carlos Morejón de Giron.

Also present on the part of the Council of Councilors of Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz, and Modernization of Administration, Urban Quality and Participation, José Guillén.

The house, with more than 100 square meters, has the most modern advances to make universal accessibility possible and to adapt to the needs and circumstances of the people who inhabit it.

With a similar distribution to any home, the intelligent house allows to discover the possibilities of building and furnishing furniture taking into account the different situations of disability, as well as offer the technical and technological solutions available.

Comfort, aesthetics and security in every square meter

The tour this morning has revealed the breadth of possibilities available to achieve universal accessibility in every meter of the home, from the portal, to the hall, to the living room, bedroom, bathroom, clean energy or Kitchen dining room.

Thus, new technologies allow to raise or lower blinds from a tablet, to modify the height of the bed with a remote control and to regulate that of the sink or countertop, to have a dryer for the whole body, carpets with presence detection, or A motorized storage cabinet, etc.

They are technological solutions that share criteria of comfort, adaptation to the needs of its inhabitants, ease of use, safety, sustainability and aesthetics.

Among other aspects, the ONCE Foundation's intelligent housing project shows that "removing barriers and enjoying an attractive image are not at all antagonistic concepts;

On the contrary, we have the necessary means to reconcile both concepts and it is our obligation to use them ", assured the Mayor, for whom" no one doubts that public administrations have an obligation to work towards a 100% accessible society, but only achieve inclusion Social with the effort of all ".
