Sangonera La Seca joins the districts that already have new study rooms (21/11/2016)

The facilities, which have been inaugurated today by the Mayor, join the 18 operating in the municipal network of libraries and reading centers.

Los Dolores, Torreagüera, Ronda Sur, Alquerías and Sangonera la Verde will soon be added, since all of them have projects under way.

The dependencies of Sangonera la Seca have 50 reading room and children's area seats and it is planned that in the future they can open 24 hours.

The expansion of the network of study rooms in the districts and districts is one of the main commitments undertaken by the City Council's Government Team, which today has taken a step further with the inauguration of the new facilities in Sangonera la Seca.

Mayor Ballesta, who presided over the event held this morning, accompanied by Area Councilor Rafael Gómez and Catalina Carrillo, Mayor of Barcelona, ​​said: "We are continuing to work towards the consolidation of a network of rooms In districts and districts, with an Internet connection, and permanently open, so that students have at their disposal adequate spaces available to prepare their exams 24 hours a day.

Ballesta explained that he has transmitted instructions to expedite the execution of works of study rooms that are already planned, as long as new locations are selected so that all the districts have these facilities.

The new equipment inaugurated in Sangonera la Seca, located in the old office of the street Antonete Gálvez, besides allowing the study of the own notes, will facilitate the search of information and the elaboration of works through the Internet connection.

In addition, as a novelty, there is a space reserved for children under 13 years.

In total, the units have 50 seats distributed in reading room (40) and children's area (10).

The property occupies an area of ​​187.86 square meters and in its remodeling and furniture endowment have been invested 73,000 euros.

The opening hours starting today are from 9.30 to 13.30 hours and from 16 to 21.30 hours.

However, it is planned that both the Sangonera la Seca and the other study rooms in the network will be available 24 hours a day.

To this end, the specification is being drafted to install a home automation system in all buildings, so that permanent access is possible through electronic key, fingerprint or card, with an integrated video camera circuitry that guarantees the security of the Users.

A network that grows

After opening today, in the next few months will continue to be incorporated other units that are underway, as is the case of Los Dolores - has already been tendered and is about to be awarded the works - and Torreagüera - will enter in operation predictably before end of year-.

In addition, the construction of other similar facilities in Ronda Sur - planned for next year - and the furnishing of some units in the multipurpose building of Alquerías is underway.

Likewise, the Department of Education, Relations with Universities and Heritage, directed by Rafael Gómez, plans to reform the library of Sangonera La Verde - the project is in recruitment -, where a new reading room will be opened 24 hours For independent access, and the transfer of the existing one in El Palmar, whose project is in the writing phase.

They are rooms prepared and equipped so that the young people can study in an appropriate environment and allow to continue fulfilling the commitment of the Government Team to consolidate a network of study rooms in the districts and districts equipped with the technical means necessary to provide a better service.
