The City of Murcia organizes an environmental voluntary activity to promote the recovery of the eel in the Segura River (19/11/2016)

The Department of Urbanism, Environment and Huerta, directed by Antonio Navarro Corchón, through the Environmental Volunteer Program 'Hacemos Piña' has organized an environmental volunteer activity for next Saturday November 26 in order to promote the recovery of the Eel and wildlife on the Segura river.

During the activity, which is carried out in collaboration with the Columbares Association, volunteers will get to know the Anguilla Project, an initiative launched by this association whose main objective is to improve and expand the habitat of this European species 'in danger of extinction' ( Anguilla anguilla) in the river Segura and the irrigation network of the Huerta de Murcia.

It will be developed by the ditches of La Arboleja and Barreras in Aljucer and by the water of Manterola (next to the Malecón).

After a brief informative talk given by members of the Columbares Association, different places where the Anguilla Project has been developed will be visited by bus, the status of the actions will be checked and the volunteers will learn how to take samples in this project.

This activity has a limit of places, so it is essential to make the previous registration through the Environmental Volunteer Office, sending an email indicating full name and contact phone or by calling 968 21 25 18.
