The City and ANSE sign an agreement to advance the environmental recovery of the river corridor of the Contraparada (18/11/2016)

The Government Board has approved the text of the collaboration agreement between the City of Murcia, through the Department of Urbanism, Environment and Huerta, directed by Antonio Navarro Corchón, and the Association of Naturalists of the Southeast (ANSE) to advance in The environmental recovery of the river corridor in the vicinity of the Contraparada.

The aim of the agreement is to carry out environmental improvement activities, with the main objective of protecting the environment, preserving nature and ecological processes, preserving biodiversity, ensuring the sustainable use of renewable natural resources and promoting actions aimed at Minimize environmental impacts and waste of resources.

The works to be implemented are, among others, maintenance of restorations made, replacement of branches, irrigation for more remote trees;

Installation and signage of posters that include environmental services of the forest to avoid otter abuse;

Replacement of landscaping with exotic species by native species;

And promotion of meandering recovery.

Likewise, plantations will be carried out by volunteers, a biological monitoring will be carried out in the corridor area;

The Murcia-Contraparada corridor will be promoted as a carbon sink and also a river custody agreement between the Segura Hydrographic Confederation (CHS), the City Council and ANSE to recover the riverbank forest in that environment.

To carry out these activities of impulse and progress in the recovery of the surroundings of the Contraparada, the City of Murcia has allocated an amount of 10,000 euros.
