The PSOE presents a motion to require Montoro that Local Corporations can allocate their surplus to investments (18/11/2016)

The City of Murcia has obtained a considerable surplus since all the investments foreseen in the budgets have not been carried out, and that money, instead of being used to amortize debt, should be reinvertirse the following year in the multiple necessities of the municipality

The spokesman of the Socialist Municipal Group, José Ignacio Gras, stated that for the next municipal plenary, to be held on Thursday, November 24, "we are going to present a motion that will directly affect the quality of life of Murcia and Murcia ".

"Specifically we propose to discuss and approve that the Board of Governors of the City of Murcia urges the Government of Spain to allow Local Corporations to allocate their surplus obtained to investments generating employment and improvement of public services that directly revert to the Inhabitants of Murcia "added Gras.

In view of the general deterioration of public finances since the beginning of the crisis, the European Union amended the rules on budgetary stability included in the Stability and Growth Pact (SGP) in order to correct fiscal imbalances Of some Member States, to prevent the repetition of these delicate situations and to improve the coordination of the budgetary policies of the eurozone countries.

Following the European model, also in Spain the government introduced in 2012 an Expenditure Rule, which became one of the three compulsory fiscal rules inserted in the Organic Law on Budgetary Stability and Financial Sustainability (LOEPSF): budgetary stability, debt Public and spending rule.

In this respect the City of Murcia has obtained a considerable surplus because at the time of spending have not carried out the investments provided in budgets, a money that, instead of reinvesting in the municipality of Murcia in the following year to carry Out these same works, is being used to pay off debt.

From the PSOE we consider that this situation should be corrected and that the money not spent in an exercise should be reinvested the following year because the needs of Murcia are still many and these amounts can be used to eliminate social inequalities.

For all this, from the Socialist Municipal Group "we propose, for your debate that our City Council urges the Government of Spain to local governments can allocate their surplus to certain investments that in addition to generating employment, improve the quality of life of Murcia and Murcia "concluded José Ignacio Gras.
