The Anthology of the Zarzuela arrives Saturday at the Auditorium with the Symphony of the UCAM (17/11/2016)

More than 200 artists and the best voices of the national lyric will participate in the event.

Artists are confident that this genre "is not dead but alive."

Tickets can be purchased both in the auditorium and in El Corte Inglés, the Regional Film Library and Ticketmaster.

The Anthology of the Zarzuela arrives on Saturday at the Auditorio Víctor Villegas de Murcia at 9 pm.

The work will feature more than 200 artists who will perform more than 20 different titles from the Spanish Zarzuela, such as 'La Revoltosa', 'La Molí Millera', 'El Barberillo de Lavapiés' and 'La Canción del Olvido'.

In this way, the Symphonic Orchestra of the UCAM, directed by Gaspar Sánchis, pays tribute to the mentor of the Zarzuela, José Tamayo, who popularized this genre in the 60s throughout the five continents.

Likewise, Antología de la Zarzuela will be represented by a cast, formed by the best lyrical voices of the moment.

Among them are Cristina Toledo, Antonio Torres, Francisco Sánchez, Quique Bustos, Juanma Cifuentes, the Murcia Carlos Moreno, the actor Nahúm Ortiz and the actresses María López and Inma Vázquez.

They will be accompanied by the Coral Discantus, the Coral Crevillentina, and the Ballets Estampas de Zarzuela in Madrid and Aurora González de Jumilla next to the Barenbar Quartet.

With this staging they want to demonstrate that "the Zarzuela is not dead, but alive", as stressed soprano Cristina Toledo who will also act on Saturday.

Although the Zarzuela has traditionally been treated as "a minor genre", it is "a genre rich" and "Spain is lucky to have it."

However, the artist recognizes that the Zarzuela has triumphed more outside Spain than inside.

But he says that more and more young people are interested in this classic.

This is explained, in part, "by the educational projects being carried out by both the Teatro de la Zarzuela and the Teatro Real de Madrid".

La Zarzuela has been a genre "very badly treated in the last years" and that is why Antología de la Zarzuela offers Saturday "an opportunity for the spectator to contemplate something wonderful", explains the manager of the Symphony Orchestra of the UCAM, Eugenio Santos.
