Congress at the UMU promotes good practices for the prevention of abuse in childhood (17/11/2016)

The rector of the University of Murcia (UMU), José Orihuela, today chaired the inaugural event of the XIII Biennial International Congress "Child Abused", which is held until Saturday in the auditorium of the educational institution.

The conference aims to provide both legal and psychosocial information to professionals who surround children and adolescents in court proceedings, so that they can provide the best possible care in these.

Likewise, we want to influence in a special way those responsible with decision-making capacity in all matters relating to the care of children and adolescents within the scope of the Administration of Justice.

Orihuela spoke during the opening ceremony of the pride of hosting this event for the University of Murcia, which "has always participated actively in the fight for respect and promotion of the rights of children."

In addition to the rector, the Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás;

The Councilor for Social Rights of the City of Murcia, Concepción Ruiz, and UMU professor Teresa Vicente, coordinator of the organizing committee of the congress, among other personalities.

The congress is organized by the Federation of Associations for the Prevention of Child Abuse (FAPMI) and sponsored by the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality and the Caixa.

The UMU collaborates through the Vice-rectorate of Communication and Culture.
