The City Council performs an intensive review of the 700 specimens of unique trees in Murcia and districts (13/11/2016)

The Parks and Gardens Department, which is part of the Department of Modernization of Administration, Urban Quality and Participation, directed by José Guillén, is carrying out the intensive semi-annual review of the 700 examples of unique trees found in Murcia and the districts.

These works are a reinforcement of the periodic and constant inspections carried out by the Town Hall workers to verify that all the specimens are in perfect health and are safe for Murcia.

An arborist with European certificate accompanied by approximately a fortnight of professionals examines intensively since this week the more than 700 specimens of unique trees of Murcia and its districts.

The Councilor for Modernization, Urban Quality and Participation, José Guillén, recalls "the intense work done in detail and intensive with each of the trees. In particular different means are used, depending on the height and characteristics of the specimen, such as The lifting basket, the articulated arm or the pruning with climbs, and it is thus verified its state of health and its branches ".

These tasks are mainly centered on places with a greater number of these examples such as the historic gardens (Floridablanca, Salitre Garden, Chinese Garden and the Malecon of Murcia), as well as Artillery Barracks, Vistabella, Contraparada or Monteagudo.

Guillén recalls that "the state of conservation of these specimens is good and comply with all safety regulations."

These unique trees are cataloged as such according to the current regulations and the list is available on the municipal website www.murcia.es.
