Now Murcia denounces the discharge of hazardous waste from the bird collector in protected orchard plots (11/11/2016)

Alicia Morales also points out the contradiction that these events are occurring "without any control at the same time as promoting the project 'Land Bank of the Huerta de Murcia', which supposedly seeks to avoid the abandonment of farmland"

NOW MURCIA denounces that an uncontrolled dumping of hazardous waste from the AVE collector is taking place in protected Huerta plots of the municipality.

The councilor and spokeswoman, Alicia Morales, explains that this situation is taking place in the area of Camino de Tiñosa, where in lands classified as Suelo de Huerta (SH) are being dumped for two weeks waste from works, including large Pieces of asphalt.

Now Murcia has been aware of this situation through neighbors, and has directed three internal communications to the Councilor for Urbanism to report and take the appropriate measures, as well as inform the municipal group on the actions to be undertaken.

Morales explains that "the classification of land as SH implies that these soils have various legal protections, which could be violated by the dumping of waste from the works, including numerous pieces of asphalt. Bituminous, dangerous and very toxic, must be transferred to authorized landfills for proper treatment.

There is also the circumstance that along the land runs a ditch, "which makes the spills even more dangerous, because of the leakage that can occur to the irrigation network, as well as to the water table," he warns.

This same ditch already suffered several months ago several attacks in which part of its vegetation ripped and its traditional channel.

The spokeswoman of Now Murcia states that "in case of failure to comply with the regulations, the City Council should order the removal of these discharges and the restoration of legality, that is, leave the soil in the state prior to its removal and contamination" .

The councilor criticizes "the lack of planning that has become evident time and time again since the appearance of the collector and the consequent works, which are causing problems to the neighbors by the traffic cuts and other annoyances. The municipal government can not remain impassible Before irregularities that seriously damage the Huerta, it is high time that instead of announcing large projects for this, demonstrate a daily and real concern for its protection and conservation.

Morales also points out the contradiction that these events are occurring "without any control while promoting the project 'Land Bank of the Huerta de Murcia', which allegedly seeks to prevent the abandonment of farmland."
