Environmental awareness activities reach 6-8 year olds for the first time (10/11/2016)

The collaboration between the Department of Development, directed by Roque Ortiz, and the concessionaire Ferrovial Servicios has allowed environmental awareness activities to reach the first stage of primary education for the first time.

This year, as a novelty, 1st, 2nd and 3rd year Primary students, from 6 to 8 years old, will be able to learn to recycle and maintain civic behavior of cleaning with the Drilo crocodile.

Councilor Roque Ortiz has attended this event at the school Cierva Peñafiel in which, through the performing arts, music and theater combined with fun and didactic, Drilo teaches in a dynamic and playful way, the importance of care of the Streets, the schoolyard, the neighborhood, the park or the home itself.

This new activity will arrive in the last quarter of the year to a total of 53 educational centers of the municipality.

With the beginning of the new school year, environmental awareness campaigns are also beginning to be carried out annually in schools to try to instill in students the correct guidelines for urban hygiene and the practice of the three erres of waste: Reduce , Reuse and Recycle.

Up to now, awareness-raising activities have been directed to the second level of primary education through school talks such as 'The Waste Game' in 4th year and 'Waste of Now, Waste Now' in 5th year.

Subsequently, at the end of the Primary stage students visit the waste treatment center of Cañada Hermosa to know in situ the treatment applied to the rubbish produced daily by the citizens.

This year, as a novelty, and in order to reach as many children as possible at an early age, the campaign is extended to the first section of Primary "with the conviction that the sooner they are taught to be civic and responsible citizens, Before they learn it, "explained the councilman.

During the academic year 2015/2015 lectures were given in 115 schools to 4,861 students in the 4th Primary Education Course;

Lectures in 122 schools to 4,990 students in the 5th Primary Education Course and visits to the Cañada Hermosa Waste Treatment Center of 5,143 primary school students.
