Takeover of Francisco Javier Martinez as dean of the Faculty of Communication and Information (07/11/2016)

Professor Francisco Javier Martinez Mendez has today taken over as dean of the Faculty of Communication and Information at the University of Murcia (UMU), after being recently re-elected to office.

The event, which was developed in the hall of degrees of the Faculty, was chaired by the rector of the institution, José Orihuela, and the Secretary General, Santiago Alvarez.

Along with Martinez Mendez, they have taken possession faculty secretary, Luis Miguel Moreno, and vicedecanos Gregorio Moya (Quality and Coordination), José Gabriel Ferreras (Audiovisual Communication and International Relations), Rosana Lopez (Documentation and Students), Leonarda García (Journalism ) and Inmaculada Martínez (Advertising and Institutional Relations).

In his speech, the dean, who noted that the growth of the center requires considering an extension of the building of the Faculty, which has become too small, has stressed also the need to update the content of curricula in some aspects have become irrelevant.

Among its objectives for the next four years, Martinez Mendez, who thanked the efforts of the governing team for the allocation of positions for teachers, stressed that there must be more energizing students in order to more active participation of these in the life of the Faculty.

The rector Orihuela, meanwhile, has agreed to consider requests posed by the decanal team, especially those concerning the extension of the building of the Faculty and updating curricula.

The ceremony was also attended by Vice Rector of Research, Juan Antonio Garcia, and Training and Innovation, Pedro Miralles.
